A Prayer for the Immediate Release of the Hostages
Master of the Universe, King of judgment and compassion, Who hears every prayer and listens to every cry. We, Your children, stand before You in a time of great distress. Our hearts are shattered and our souls cry out in anguish for our brothers and sisters, our precious, innocent children, who are held captive by a cruel and heartless enemy. They are trapped in the deepest darkness, in the pit of despair, in the hands of forces of evil that seek to swallow all that is holy and extinguish all light.
We come before You with the only weapon we have, the weapon of Mashiach, the weapon of prayer. As the Sage teaches, it is through prayer that all requests are received. We take with us these words and return to You, pleading with all our might.
Ribbono shel Olam, we cry out to You as King David did: “Awake, my glory! Awake the harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.” Awaken them from this terrible nightmare. Awaken the dawn of their redemption now! For You are the one who “removes sleep from my eyes,” and we beg you to shatter the chains of this brutal captivity and bring them home.
Av HaRachaman, Merciful Father, we pray to You a prayer of din, a prayer of judgment, as Pinchas did. We ask, “Where are Your vengeance and Your might? Your abundant yearning and Your compassion for us have been withheld!” Let the staff of our strength, the power of our collective prayer, become like the staff of Moshe. Let it enter the throat of the enemy and force him to disgorge the holy souls he has swallowed. Shatter the iron shackles that bind them.
Creator of the World, we implore You with the teaching of the great Tzaddik, Rebbe Nachman: “Search and seek” and find the good point within each and every hostage. Find the merit of the good they have done, the purity that still resides within them, and through that one good point, that “still a little bit,” bring them from the side of guilt to the side of merit, from captivity to freedom. For we know that “just a little bit of light chases away a lot of darkness.”If the merit of the Tzadikkim and put upon each hostage their merit.
You are the One “Who desires chesed.” Let the “cord of kindness” be drawn upon them now. Let Your great compassion be aroused for Your children who suffer. Do not hide Your face from them. As it is said, “The world will be built with chesed.” Rebuild their worlds now with Your kindness.
Release them now, immediately. Let them return to us alive, healthy, and whole in body and in spirit. Turn this great sorrow into joy, this darkness into a great and brilliant light. Let the new song, the song of wonders, be heard.
For we believe with perfect faith that You can change nature and bring salvation in the blink of an eye. You are “HaShem, Who is powerful and mighty! HaShem, Who is mighty in battle!” Bring our children, our brothers, our sisters home. Now.
Amen, may it be Your will.
