BH 🕊️ Kever of Rabbi Shlomo Alkabetz – Safed, Israel

Today I visited the resting place of Rabbi Shlomo Halevi Alkabetz zt”l, a 16th-century mystic, poet, and composer of the timeless Shabbat hymn “Lecha Dodi.”

Standing by his grave — tucked beneath shade, still alive with prayer notes — I thought of how his words echo across the world every Friday night:

“Come, my beloved, to greet the bride; the presence of Shabbat let us welcome.”

A call to beauty. To presence. To sacred pause.

Rabbi Alkabetz was part of Tzfat’s spiritual renaissance, studying alongside the Beit Yosef and the early kabbalists. His poetry wasn’t just art — it was a vessel of Divine intimacy. And centuries later, we’re still singing.

May his merit inspire deeper song in our hearts and deeper rest in our weeks.
